film Night
On our Film Night for Twilight Thursday, The GAFF showcased three beautiful films produced in recent years, by or in partnership with The GAFF. These works highlighted the diverse voices and stories of Limerick:
Children of the Castle, dir. Keith Bogue and Maeve McGrath – interviews with people about their childhoods living in the housing development in the barracks of King John's Castle
Knuck & Knuckle, dir. Ellie Marron and Sean Horgan – the story of how boxing and sport helped Lee Reeves through his personal grief journey, following the death of his mother Cathy
Being Put Back Together, dir. David McDonagh – Kaylen's journey with photography and personal challenges, seen through the eyes of his brother David.
This film night aims to celebrate local storytelling and underrepresented voices. Taking place on 30 April 2026 as part of Twilight Thursday, the event had a terrific turnout, especially from the community of King John Castle’s barracks for the premiere of ‘Children of the Castle’.
The GAFF Film Night was supported by Limerick City and County Council through the Night Time Economy programme.
